Look Around You Challenge

My Scrapbook Nook Look Around You challenge:
I chose this pitcher sitting in my dining table as my inspiration. I took away from it the color of the pitcher, the shape of the round place mat and the colors and flowers in the pattern.

Here's my take:
The red did not come out as bright as I wanted it to but it's good enough for me. I love how it turned out. The picture was taken 2 years ago on our 10 yr anniversary that I never get tired of scrapping as you can see. But seriously this is the last one using that pic.

Products use:
Crate Paper Round Scallop shape paper
Crate Paper Pattern Paper
American Craft White shimmery thickers
Prima flower
Heidi Swapp flower mask
Glimmer Mist Red Shimmer
K&Co Amy Butler Die cut shapes

You have to see it, Heather and Erin are too funny!
Go...go...gooo!

Going to a wedding....

Here at Thornewood Castle!
So excited to go here. I am definitely bringing my camera and taking loads of pic of this baby. It has a 500 yr. old Grand Stairway, Sunken English garden, fern garden, statuary, Medieval stain glass windows, it's next to a Lake, its a B&B and it has some really fancy interior. Are you kidding me? Picture gallore! I put a lil bit of the history on the bottom of the post. Interesting huh?

Picture of the Castle below right after it was built.
Thornewood Castle, a magnificent three-story manor home dating from the turn of the century, offers over 27,000 square feet of living space, graciously arranged under one tile roof. Boasting 54 rooms, including 22 bedrooms and 22 baths, this English Tudor/Gothic mansion is one of the few genuine private castles in the United States. Thornewood Castle was built to the specifications of Mr. Chester Thorne, one of the founders of the Port of Tacoma, in beautiful Washington State. His fascination with the grandeur of the old English estate led him to design his dream house. Kirtland Kelsey Cutter, one of America's most gifted architects of that era, converted this dream into the once-in-a-lifetime estate.

Built to last the centuries, Thornewood Castle is constructed with concrete and steel on a solid three-foot-thick foundation. Exterior walls are brick and concrete with steel reinforcement. The floors are ten inches of concrete. Construction took three years to complete, from 1908 to 1911, with many of the materials, including the brick, oak paneling, oak staircase and the medieval stained glass coming from a castle in Europe. Three ships were commissioned to transport these building supplies around Cape Horn to the Pacific Northwest.

The red brick facing on the outside of the estate was imported from Wales. A massive grand staircase and solid oak doors, both wood-pegged by old world craftsmen, represents only a few of the interior finishes imported to the castle from a 15th century mansion in England. A priceless collection of rare artwork, hand painted onto glass surrounded by panes of crystal, are mounted in windows throughout the estate. Created in the 15th to 17th centuries, they were previously owned by an English duke who spent 40 years collecting the lost art.

2 Mini Challenges

New Color Combo LO Challenge
A color combo was provided and we had to use at least 3 of the colors. I was running out of time and glad I made it. I was able to use all the colors in the fabric that was use. Here is my take on the challenge.
FACE PAINT Gift Certificate Pocket Card Challenge
We had to create a card (that feature a different way of showcasing the GC) that had a pocket for a GC. This was my take for the challenge. Use lots of my old Amy Butler paper pad for this card. Feels great to use old stash to make room for some new stash.

GUESS WHAT?????

I kept getting phone calls from a number I did not recognize yesterday, so I did not answer it. So this morning, while still in bed I got another phone call from the same number and finally my husband answered it and handed me the phone. It was Suzy West from My Little Shoebox telling me I made the DT. AAAaaaaaahhhh! Thank God my hubby answered the phone! Anyway I am excited and SHOCKED! I am just humbled with the fact that out of 400 something submissions..... I made it! I seriously did not think I was gonna make it, so this is such a surprise. Thanks so much Suzy for this opportunity, I cannot wait to begin working and so excited to work with the new products for CHA! Congrats to all the girls that made it and also looking forward to getting to know the current DT girls too.

Here's what was posted at MLS blog today!

Weekly Challenge #2 redo

Since my first try was disqualified (there was a bit of pink in it), which the challenge says no pink. So I decided to try it again. Hopefully this time it counts. LOL!
Journaling reads:
At 1 week old, daddy is madly and crazy in love with you!!
He showers you with hugs and kisses.
What a lucky girl to have a daddy that's totally wrapped around your tiny fingers.
You will forever be his little Princess.
Even as you grow, I hope that you can always see how much he loves you, by his tender loving kisses for you!
Isabella Rose @ 1 week old
I used Heidi Swapp masking on each corner with green Glimmer Mist, but a lil disappointed with the pic cuz it does not really show very well. Oh, well it looks good in person!
Pattern papers and coordinating letter stickers are from Crate Paper Prudence collection
CK flower bling
white ribbon from Scenic Route
flowers are from Michaels
Making Memories brown alpha stickers

Happy Mother's Day!

To all the Mother's I know and love. I hope you all have a great day! I hope you get pampered and spoiled throught out the day.

A poem for my MAMA!

"Mother" is such a simple word,But to me there’s meaning seldom heard. For everything I am today,My mother’s love showed me the way.
I’ll love my mother all my days,For enriching my life in so many ways. She set me straight and then set me free,And that’s what the word "mother" means to me.
Thanks for being a wonderful mother, Mom!

*About Me Mini Challenge*

This is not my typical subject to scrap but, I enjoyed it very much this time around. I really took my time creating my page. I spent my whole morning painting and crackling my background pages. I don't know if you can tell but my back ground papers are from Que Sera Sera from K&Co. I then finish my page slowly through out the day when I could. A lil here and a lil there and tonight at 11: something pm I finally got it done. I am proud of my page. I used the vintage book pages to symbolize the book of me type thing. It's my story, so I think it if fitting to use the vintage book pages.
The tittle is something that I truly feel describes me.
A close up pic of the crackling I did with my background papers. That was really fun and I have 2 or 3 more pages with that technique coming up. And I cant wait to finish them up.A close up of the layering of the vintage book pages.
The flower cut out on top of my page is really a tag, disguise as part of the back ground cut out flowers. Worked out really good. Yay!
And here is my tag up close. Journal reads:
Memo
I love w/ a passion
I wear my heart on my sleeve's
I always give 100% of myself
I will act a fool to make you laugh
I don't take myself too seriously
I hate saying "NO" or don't know how
I cry over everything
I don't take anything for granted
